FAQS.
What are LST’s (Longer Semi-Trailers)?
LST is short for “Longer Semi-Trailer”. These are a familiar sight on UK roads since the initial trial in 2012, under strict Department for Transport guidelines. On May 31st 2023, legislation came into effect within Great Britain to allow LST’s on the roads as a special type under Statutory Instrument 2023/524 – The Road Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) (General) (Amendment) Order 2023. This amended -The Road Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) (General) Order 2003.
How much longer is the LST trailer?
Up to 2.05m longer!
That’s right, the LST can be up to 2.05m longer than a standard 13.6m trailer. This takes the total length of the LST to 15.65m.

Why use LST trailers?
By increasing the length of the trailer by up to 2.05m, allows you to increase your payload by an extra 4 pallets, or 9 more cages with each consignment. This equates to 15% extra capacity per full load! A fully loaded Longer Semi-Trailer “LST” also reduces the number of required journeys, overall emissions, congestion & collision risk.
Longer Semi Trailers > Less Trucks > Less Fuel > Less Maintenance.
Cheaper long-term operations.
