LST is short for Longer Semi-Trailer and these have become a familiar sight on UK roads since the first batch of LST trailers was released in 2012, under strict Department for Transport guidelines. Since then, the guidelines have continually been reviewed and amended to meet the demands of the road haulage industry. Read more about the guidelines here.

The latest report issued by the Department for Transport, it implies they will be releasing a statement soon regarding the evaluation of LST trailers. The industry has already witnessed the environmental and economic benefits of the LST trailer, and Montracon is ready to meet the market demand as the need arises.
HOW MUCH LONGER IS THE LST TRAILER?
Up to 2.05M longer
That’s right, the Longer Semi-Trailer “LST” can be up to 2.05m longer than a standard 13.6m trailer. This takes the total length of the LST to 15.65m.
WHY USE LST TRAILERS?
By increasing the length of the trailer by up to 2.05m, allows you to increase your payload by an extra 4 pallets or 9 more cages with each consignment. A fully loaded Longer Semi-Trailer “LST” not only has a bigger payload, it reduces the number of required journeys, overall emissions, congestion & collision risk.
LONGER TRAILER > LESS TRUCKS > LESS FUEL > LESS COST
Since the first release of the LST trailer, the demand has grown year after year. Montracon alone has manufactured a significant number of LST’s in various specifications to meet customer requirements.
Montracon’s extensive experience in providing LST trailers (Longer Semi Trailers) to the industry during the trial means it is well positioned to meet the increased and expected demand as the trial comes to a close and they become easier to operate for all hauliers that require them.
In addition, looking at the latest Government report on the LST trailers, it is clear to see demand for these trailers is on the increase. Get a quote today from Montracon, the trailer for road transport. Click here or call 01302 732500.
