Montracon has launched a range of curtainsider and boxvan bodies for rigid vehicles, the move being seen as a further commitment by the manufacturer to its increasing involvement in this important fleet sector.
In addition, the company has announced the appointment of Sara Cleverley as area sales manager for rigid bodies. Sara has joined Montracon following a career spanning almost 20years in the truck industry, mostly in sales and sales support with nationally known companies in trailer and bodybuilding.
Joining the already established refrigerated body range for rigids of 18tonne gross plus, Montracon’s curtainsider and boxvan ranges have been designed for chassis from 7.5tonne gross. The curtainsider features an all bolted galvanised steel underframe and is built to EN12642-XL; the boxvan features an all bolted aluminium underframe.
Commercial vehicle finance provider and leasing specialist Asset Alliance has taken delivery of an order for 91 Montracon bodies, a mix of boxvans, curtainsiders and refrigerated. It has also placed a follow up order for a further 24, a mix of curtainsiders and refrigerated.
Speaking of the announcement, Montracon sales and marketing director John Rice said: ‘Sara joins us at an exciting time, the more so as we are and will continue to introduce exciting new products in what is a parallel market sector to trailers. Moreover, we have now created dedicated engineering resource to support our body products that, excluding the beaver tail machinery/plant mover that is produced at Mallusk, will be built in a dedicated facility at our Market Weighton plant.’
‘A curtainsider rigid will be one of four vehicles on the Montracon stand at the upcoming CV Show,’ he closed
Montracon Mallusk played host to a group of 12 important visitors this month.
The group, “Glengormley PCI Men Together” from the local community were able to witness first-hand the key aspects of the Mallusk facility, the flexible production processes in place, multi-skilled workforce and the various products manufactured at Mallusk. A great deal of interest was shown by the group who kept the Montracon tour guides on their toes with a questions and answers session conducted throughout the visit. All the gentlemen left with a keep sake of the day and George Hewitt, the group organiser was very complimentary to all those involved.
A further visit of 12 has been arranged for next month.

Jordan Pike, Fleet Manager at Monex Group (a UK based Transport and Logistics Solutions provider ) sums up his dealings with Montracon in just two words – “They Listen”. With Montracon working closely with Monex Group, and involving the end-user right from the start ultimately led to Montracon securing an order for a bespoke machinery carrier.
The trailer, an access spec machinery carrier ideally suited for loads with a low ground clearance has been designed to include a number of enhancements; such as a full width hydraulic double flip rear ramp for easy access. Also included in the final specification is a mesh floor to aid grip and guide rails when manoeuvring the load on the bed of the trailer.
With ever increasing emphasis now being placed on Health and Safety it was not surprising to Montracon that there were calls from the end user to ensure the trailer was equipped with a fall arrest system. Hi-Vis hand rails, a pull out access ladder and two work lights fitted at the headboard provide secure access and movement along the deck of the trailer.
With the trailer already in service Jordan concludes “the trailer is a fine bit of engineering”. A clear example that shows that listening wins.
